Strong Start to 2018 – Members Rally in Windsor

A new year means more rallies: CIU & PSAC members kicked things off for 2018 by demonstrating in Windsor (CIU local 00018) today. With a large number of members in attendance, this rally is the latest in a series of demonstrations supporting the FB bargaining team, reminding Canadians that FB members protect Canada’s borders, and sending a clear message to the employer : It is time to treat FB members with respect. These men and women put themselves in harm’s way, they are law enforcement, and they deserve a fair contract.

CIU and PSAC members from different locals were present, including CIU National President Jean-Pierre Fortin and 1^st National VP Mark Weber. Thank you to Windsor & District Labour Council, UNIFOR 444, Iron Workers 700, IBEW 773, WUFA, Ontario Teachers Federation, CUPW, CUPE and LIUNA 625 for their solidarity and support. MPP Taras Natyshack, MPP Lisa Gretsky, and MP Brian Masse were also present.

FB Members Rally at Peace Arch Border Crossing

On December 14, 2017, our members in B.C. rallied in solidarity near the Peace Arch border crossing and sent a clear message to the employer: FB members deserve fair treatment at the bargaining table. These women and men are law enforcement, protect our borders, and deserve a fair contract.

Present at the rally with the members were local and national union representatives, including Rick Savage, CIU 4^th National VP.

CIU/PSAC Members Rally in Niagara Falls

In another display of solidarity, members of CIU/PSAC in Niagara Falls rallied today to express support for their FB bargaining team, and to tell the employer that FB members keep Canada’s borders safe, and deserve a fair treatment. They’re law enforcement, and a fair contract must acknowledge it.

Among the members were CIU 1^st National VP Mark Weber, CIU Niagara Falls Branch President Chris Schuurman, and CIU Toronto Branch President Frances Baroutoglou.

Members Rally in New Brunswick in Support of FB Bargaining

CIU and PSAC members in New Brunswick demonstrated in Saint John on Monday December 11 in support of the CIU/PSAC campaign reminding Canadians that Border Officers and all FB members keep Canada’s borders safe, and deserve a fair contract and a fair treatment.

Demonstrating with the members were 3^rd National VP Joey Dunphy and NB Branch President Tammy Firlotte.

FB Members Rally in Cornwall

Following the last day of the Public Interest Commission (PIC) hearings, CIU members in Eastern Ontario (Branch 70027) demonstrated and handed out flyers in Cornwall to tell the employer that, as the country’s first line of defence, FB members (border services) are law enforcement officers – they deserve fair treatment and a fair contract. That’s why CIU and PSAC are advocating for parity with other law enforcement agencies for FB members.

Also demonstrating with the members were CIU National President Jean-Pierre Fortin, 2^nd National Vice-President Chantal Rajotte, and Eastern Ontario Branch President Kim Poirier.
