Mental Health

At home and at work, mental health matters. Everyday, we face situations that can have a positive or negative impact on our mental well-being.

Throughout your career, you may encounter difficult circumstances that may trigger stress, anxiety, depression, or a number of related illnesses. According to PSAC, “mental health conditions are responsible for almost half of all long term disability claims” in the federal public service. Working for the Canadian Border Services Agency is certainly no different, with a large number of employees reporting their workplace as not being psychologically healthy (based on the Public Service Employee Annual Survey).

Stress, anxiety or depression are not uncommon issues, and dealing with poor mental health can both feel and be overwhelming. The Customs and Immigration Union understands the importance of having access to the necessary resources, help and support to face difficult situations:

  • On this page, you will find a broad range of resources offered both by national organizations and provincial governments. Over time, we will continue to add to this list, so check back for new information on available resources and programs.
