Laurel Randle Memorial Bursary

The Customs and Immigration Union (CIU) recognizes that escalating tuition costs are a barrier to post secondary education. CIU is proud to offer a yearly bursary of one thousand dollars ($1,000), which has been named the Laurel Randle Memorial Bursary. This bursary was created in Laurel’s memory in order to assist in offsetting the costs in attending post-secondary education.

Laurel Randle was a former member of the CIU National Board of Directors as well as a Labour Relations Officer working at the CIU National Office. She dedicated her professional life to union activism. Her focus on social justice issues, coupled with her unwavering support and tireless representation of the members of CIU had a profound effect on those who knew her. In recognition of all her contributions to union causes, CIU has ensured that Laurel’s name and legacy will live on through the Laurel Randle Memorial Bursary.

CIU scholarship/bursary is awarded based on the merit of a 750 to 850 word essay, YouTube video, infographic, song or other creative submission which answers the current scholarship question:

Laurel Randle was known for her dedication to social justice and union activism. How do her values inspire you in your pursuit of post-secondary education and future career?
