The CIU Collective Bargaining Committee (Ron Moran, Chair, and members Brea Lewis, Doug Tremblett and Dave VanHelvert) will be meeting in Ottawa on February 4, 5 and 6, 2014 to sort through, group and prioritize the FB demands that will have been submitted by January 30th for next round of negotiations.
The National Bargaining Conference will take place at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa from February 13 to 16, 2014. CIU is entitled to a total of 39 delegates, 30 of which are Board members. Discussions will be take place in the coming days between myself, Brother Moran (Committee Chair) and PSAC representatives to determine how to proceed with the selection of the remaining 9 delegates. We will keep you informed.
As stated in Section 1 (a) of CIU Board Regulation 13: “The FB Bargaining Team shall be elected at the CIU NBOD meeting immediately prior to a 4-month “Notice to Bargain” deadline”. It was impossible to hold such an election during CIU’s September 2013 NBoD because the Team in place had not yet completed its mandate. This election will therefore be held during a special CIU NBoD meeting which I am calling as per By-Law 12, Section 2 (b). The precise time and date are to be determined, but the PSAC will provide us with a meeting room at the Westin Hotel during the Bargaining Conference so this election can take place.
