Important documents & other information
Note: Mentions of "midnight local time" in the above documents refer to "end of day". For example, "October 4, midnight local time" indicates the end of the day (11:59 p.m.) on Sunday October 4.
Individual Forms
These form are all available in the Branch Elections Kit, but are provided individually for your convenience — some forms are intended for the Branch Executive and/or the Branch Nominations Elections Committee (NEC) exclusively.
These filable forms are optimized for Adobe Acrobat but should work with other PDF readers.
Electronic vote
Unless otherwise specified by the local Branch, the Branch Elections will be conducted electronically, following the Main Elections Timetable. The electronic voting process will be coordinated by the CIU National Office and overseen by Intelivote. See the How to vote section below for more information.
Branches which opt out of the electronic process will be responsible for issuing and collecting paper ballots, using either the Main Elections Timetable for in-person voting or the Supplemental Timetable for mail-in ballots.
Please note: In-person or mail-in ballots cannot be used in conjunction with electronic voting.
How to vote
Starting October 12, CIU members in good standing (located in Branches where branch elections are taking place for one or more positions) will have the opportunity to vote electronically.
Please note: If elections are not taking place for a specific position, this means the position has been filled by acclamation, or that no nomination was received.
Information about the electronic voting process
- Elections for one or more positions will be taking place in the following Branches:
- Toronto (00024)
- Vancouver (20040)
- B.C. Coastal (20042)
- B.C. Southern (20045)
- Newfoundland and Labrador (90001)
- Positions being elected vary depending on the Branch. See the Candidates & Results section below for details on which positions are subject to an election in each Branch.
- We’ve partnered with Intelivote to oversee the voting process.
- Members in good standing belonging to a Branch where elections are taking place will receive an email from Intelivote with instructions on how to vote at their personal email address on file. Emails will be sent out starting Sunday, October 11, at noon Eastern Time.
- Members from a Branch where elections are taking place who have not received an email from Intelivote by October 15, and who believe they should be able to vote, should write to elections@ciu-sdi.ca. Make sure to check your spam folder.
- Members from a Branch where elections are not taking place, but who receive an invitation to vote, should disregard the invitation and write to elections@ciu-sdi.ca to report the issue.
- Members will be provided with a PIN, which they’ll need to vote either online or by phone. Details (PIN, web address and phone number) will be included in the email from Intelivote.
- Voting will open at 6:30 a.m. ET on October 12, and will close at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) on November 1, 2026.
- Members will only be able to vote in elections taking place within their Branch.
Questions and assistance requests regarding the elections should be directed to elections@ciu-sdi.ca.
Candidates & Results
See below for the list of candidates sorted by Branch and position, along with the results (where available).
- This list only includes Branch Executive positions. Steward positions are not listed.
- Vacant positions are not listed.
- In cases where only one nomination was received for a given position, then that position is filled by acclamation.
- If all positions in a given Branch are acclaimed, the election process for that Branch concludes following the nominations period.
- If some positions in a given Branch are not acclaimed, the election process for that Branch concludes following the voting period. Results will be available on November 2.
- 'Withdrawn' indicates that a candidacy was withdrawn during the campaigning or voting periods. In cases where only two candidates were running for a given position, the withdrawal of one candidacy results in the acclamation of the other candidate.
