September 24 was the first day of CIU’s 21st National Convention, in Ottawa.
After opening remarks from National President Mark Weber and a welcome address delivered by invited guest and Traditional Helper Elaine Kicknosway, convention attendees celebrated CIU life members (with the three most recent life members – Murray Star, Danielle Dubuc and Patty Ducharme – receiving a plaque recognizing their important contributions to the union) and honoured members who passed away in the last three years, before tackling important Convention business, starting with the reports of the CIU National Executive.
Delegates also heard from guests such as PSAC National President Sharon DeSousa, FB Negotiator Morgan Gay, and PA Negotiator Rachel Besharah.
We were also honoured to have our first ever canine (honorary) delegate, Thunder!
