Meeting in Ottawa on the eve of the 21st CIU National Convention, the CIU National Board of Directors attended to timely union business, including:
- Creating a $50 a day strike pay top-up for each striking PA/EB/TC/SV members for the current round of bargaining, should a strike take place.
- Renaming CIU local 70027 from “Eastern Ontario” to “Eastern Ontario and Nunavut” (pictured below) to foster inclusion and reflect the union’s values of equity and visibility for every member.
- Renaming local 020 from “Hamilton” to “Hamilton-Kitchener” to better represent the branch’s current membership.
NBoD members rally to support workers at the Bank of Canada
CIU Board members also joined other labour organizations at the NDP picket line rally in support of the security workers at the Bank of Canada — members of PSAC-DCL 71250 — who have been on strike since June 23. Take a look at the photos below!
